The choice of species is one of the most important factors in the composition of a landscaping project. More than a matter of taste and beauty, it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of sunshine and ventilation of the place and to understand what the purpose of that garden is . In addition to pleasing the eyes, the plants can help camouflage unwanted elements, provide shade corners and offer more privacy to desolate terrains, such as this cottage in Monte Mor, in the interior of São Paulo. "The condominium does not allow the construction of walls, so I chose plants that create a visual barrier for those who are on the street, but that do not disturb the view of the residents," says landscape architect Roberto Riscala.
On the façade , yellow jasmine, a showy, rapidly growing bush, was led like a hedge, forming a beautiful green wall dotted with flowers that spring up all year round. In the division with the neighboring terrain, Roberto opted for the also floriferous tumbérgia-shrub, that arrives to 2,50 m of height. And, in the back, the closing was due to a composition of jabuticaba , snakes, guaimbeans and russellias. "The owner wanted a delicate and feminine garden, so I chose species with flowers that grow fast, closing well," he says.
Another trump card of the project is that much of the 2.500 m² land is occupied by the emerald grass. "Notice the garden does not touch the house. I concentrated the species only on the perimeters of the area because they wanted a large free space in the center. The grassland makes the terrain, which is already large, look even bigger, "says Roberto.
