How to create new grass areas

The establishment of grassland in the gardens is a more demanding job, which is best done early in the spring or then at the beginning of autumn, respectively. late summer, if it is no longer hot and raining. And if we set up the lawn thoroughly, we will see a beautiful, dense, green lawn. How to set up the lawn properly?
It is necessary to establish grassland as soon as possible in the spring if the weather permits. The basis is, of course, thorough preparation of the surface, which is often the use of heavy equipment. It begins with the liquidation of the original vegetation, mainly weeds. In this case, mechanical disposal is ideal, but if the area needs to be settled, especially around new buildings, everything will be mechanized. Certainly do not use herbicides to eliminate weeds, firstly they contaminate the soil and will have to postpone grass seed sowing for several weeks, secondly, chemicals will contaminate groundwater.
If it is not necessary to settle the machine, but it is enough to clear, we also remove stones and other obstacles and objects. Although there is no need to model the surface, plowing always follows. For larger areas, it is necessary to use agricultural mechanization, smaller areas should be cut manually, which means that we do not damage the surfaces around. Only plowing can prepare the soil to the ideal depth, which is about 20 cm. Plow the plowing and turn the most fertile part of the soil, ie the topsoil, and it is also good to put the well-drowned horse manure or the manure at first. When plowing it is necessary to be careful not to be too deep and to pull the stones and clay out of us, or the barren subsoil.
If we want to build a new lawn on old grassland, we start by loosening with the help of a rotavator or cultivator. By plucking up the turf, we disturb the soil before plowing, which will make the plowing easier and we will not wrap the plant debris on the plowing body.

It may happen that there is buried underfloor (or included) construction waste on the surface, which of course needs to be selected and the soil replaced. It is a very common phenomenon, so people have been getting rid of rubble before, without having to deal with its balancing and storage outside the land. And one more important rule is that if we want to plant trees and shrubs at the same time, or plant vegetable beds, we will plow deeper, but then we need to choose stones and bring a new, top-quality topsoil from above. We can bring, for example, material from composting plants or aged manure lying on a substrate from farmers. The material obtained will be a source of nutrients and thus a fertilizer.
If we are restoring the lawn on the surface, we can also carry a layer of this material about 2 cm thick. It is important to screen through the material to make the material really soft and contain only small stones. Then we just finish the surface and roll and sow the grass seed (suitable grass mixture).

Sowing is the last step after all the preparations have been completed. We offer 3 basic types of grass seed (grass mixtures). The most widely used park blend, the plants grow to an acceptable height and form a medium-thick grass carpet. Another type is the meadow mix, which is now gaining popularity as it keeps insects in the garden, but the care for such areas is different. Meadow blend is made up of relatively high species of plants (such as fur and clover) and is ideal for so-called natural gardens. If we want to dry hay, feed fresh rabbit for example, the meadow mixture is ideal. The third type is playground, but this growth slowly grows and is low, but forms a very dense grass carpet that strongly resists damage. When selecting grass seed, it is simply necessary to take into account the future lawn load.
Sowing of grass seed is done manually, with a small wheel spreader (bulk, application trolley) or with the aid of technology for larger areas. However, in this case there is a risk of damage to the prepared area by the load of the technique. Finally, after sowing, it is necessary to compact the surface, for example, with a roller and water it thoroughly, preferably every morning and evening. If rain helps us, just fine. The first plants begin to germinate in about 2 weeks and we will do the first mowing in about 1.5 months.
